Ananas Reinette apple tree was first noted in France in the 1500′s, but popularized in Germany 1800’s. The Ananas Reinette apple has little russet freckles over gold skin. The Ananas Reinette apple tree produces crisp and juicy fruit with an intense sweet and sharp punch fresh off the tree. As the Ananas Reinette apples mellow they often develop a distinct pineapple flavor late in the season (its name means pineapple russet). Also as the fruit gets sweeter,  the golden color deepens, but it never loses the tang. The Ananas Reinette apple is medium to small fruit which is appropriate thanks to their big flavor. Good for eating fresh, cooking and juice.
